New employee onboarding

Scenario

Onboarding example – New employee joins the team
It’s important to make a positive and impactful first impression for a campaign for new employees. Begin the campaign by addressing the new employee by name and expressing a warm and enthusiastic welcome to the organization. Share how the team plays a vital role in achieving the goals of the organization. Include success stories or case studies that showcase the team’s achievements or most recent projects. This can inspire the new employee and demonstrate the possibilities of the future.

Setup

This type of campaign is best set up as a stand-alone for the set of new employees, with all messages over time being added to the same campaign. The idea here is that one would have multiple messages week over week for new employees all hired on the same date or within the same time frame. This can be centrally organized by HR or can be managed by the hiring manager in the department.

Channels

Email: Welcome to a personal email address outside of the company or within.

Campaign objectives

  1. Provide an overview of the team.
Introduce the team members, roles, and responsibilities. Include brief bios or fun facts about each team member to create a sense of connection and familiarity before the first team meeting! Share how the team works and what the typical norms and expectations of working together are. Encourage the new hire to network with colleagues, attend team meetings, and join relevant professional communities or groups. Highlight upcoming events or team-building activities.
  2. Outline the new employee’s role and expectations.
Clearly communicate their role, responsibilities, and objectives within the organization. Provide a detailed overview of the projects they will be involved in and how their contributions will impact the team’s success. Set clear expectations and deadlines to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
  3. Offer training, resources, and support.
As you begin to outline the messages for your campaign, share specific information about the training and onboarding process. Clearly highlight orientation sessions, training materials, or mentorship programs available to help the new employee quickly acclimate to their role and the organization. Provide access to resources and tools and provide contact information or resources for the new hire to seek guidance, ask questions, or address any concerns. This can include HR contacts, mentors, or designated colleagues who can provide assistance and support.
  4. Set the tone from day one.
A well-crafted set of communications sets the tone for a positive onboarding experience, helping the new hire feel welcomed, supported, and motivated to make a significant impact within the organization.
